Appear on Feb 27 or face arrest warrant: Court to Khaleda

Staff Correspondent: The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia will face arrest warrant if she fails to appear before a court in Dhaka on February 27.

 

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah came up with the order on Wednesday after the BNP chief did not appear before it in 10 cases filed against her.

 

Her lawyers Sanaullah Mia and Masud Ahmed Talukder appealed for more time as the BNP chief suffers physical sickness.

 

After hearing on the petition, the court fixed February 27 for her appearance before it and warned that she would be served with arrest warrant if she does not appear on the day.

 

Among the 10 cases, 8 sabotage cases were filed with Darussalam Police Station. The other two- one sabotage and the other sedition case- were filed with Jatrabari Police Station.
