Aritree’s class teacher arrested

Staff Correspondent: Detectives have arrested the Viqarunnisa Noon School and College teacher Hasna Hena who is accused along with two others of provoking Aritree Adhikary to commit suicide.

The members of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch arrested Hena from her Uttara residence Wednesday night.

Additional Commissioner (Detectives) Abdul Baten confirmed the matter to risingbd.

He also said a drive has continued to arrest two other accused-acting Principal Naznin Ferdous and morning shift in-charge Zinat Akhtar.

In the evening, the institution’s authorities sacked the trio following government orders after two days of protests surrounding the death of a student.

Earlier in the day, the government cancelled the facilities the three teachers had been enjoying under its monthly pay order or MPO benefits.
 

The education ministry also asked police and Rapid Action Battalion to act against them following the case started by Dilip.

Victim’s father Dilip Adhikari filed the case with Paltan Police Station accusing the trio of provoking Aritee to committing suicide.

Aritree Adhikari, a Class-IX student, reportedly committed suicide at their Shantinagar residence in the city on Monday after allegedly being rebuked by teachers for using mobile phone during examination.
