Arm lost in bus race: Two drivers remanded

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court has placed two drivers on a two-day remand each in a case filed for losing an arm of Titumir college student Rajib Hossain to a race of two buses in Dhaka.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abdullah al Masud passed the order on Thursday.

The bus drivers were known as Wahid, 35, of BRTC bus, and Khorshed, 50, of Swajan Paribahan bus.

Earlier, Aftab Ali, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Shahbag Police Station, also Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, produced them before the court and sought for a three-day remand for each of them.

No lawyers stood for the accused in the court.

Earlier, the High Court (HC) came up with an order to bear all expenses of Rajib treatment.

On Tuesday, Rajib, 21, a second-year undergraduate student at Titumir college in Mohakhali in the capital, was travelling on a double decker BRTC bus in Karwan Bazar area in Dhaka. He was standing in the doorway at the back of the bus with his hand partially out, when the Swajan Paribahan bus recklessly overtook, severing his right hand.
