Army to be deployed Dec 24

Staff Correspondent: Members of army will be deployed on December 24 on the occasion of the 11th general polls. They will remain in the filed till January 02 as striking force.

Election Commission (EC) secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed said this on Friday.

He said, “Deployment of army has been taken. There is also a plan to deploy members of Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) from December 22 to January 02. However, the final decision will be taken tomorrow (December 15).”

He further said, “Nobody can film the scene of polling centres. However, media men are free to enter the cnetres. For this, journalists must collect identification cards from EC submitting appointment letters and office IDs.”

“No decision on downing mobile internet or implenting 2G has been taken. But law enforcement agencies prescribed the suggestions,” he added.
