Around 1.25 crore people leaving Dhaka, N’ganj, Gazipur

Staff Correspondent: Around 1.29 crore people are leaving Dhaka, Narayanganj and Gazipur to share Eid joys with their near and dear ones on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Azha, one of the largest religious festivals for Muslims.

Ashish Kumar Dey, general secretary of the National Committee to Protect Shipping, Roads and Railways (NCPSRR), came up with the information on Wednesday.

55 percent of home-bound people are making their journey on roads, 25 percent on river routes and 20 percent on railways, Ashish Kumar said.

This time some 70.95 lakh holiday makers are making their journey towards home on roads using different vehicles including bus while 32.25 lakh on river routes by different water vessels including launch, steamer and trawler. Some 25.80 lakh holiday makers are making their journey towards home by train, the NCPSRR general secretary said.
