Arrest warrant issued against Irad Siddiqui

Staff Correspondent: Arrest warrant has been issued against Chowdhury Irad Ahmed Siddiqui, on charges of making derogatory remarks about Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on facebook.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sottobroto Sikdar passed the order on Sunday.

Prosecution lawyer Advocate Muhammad Bahalul Alam said that Expatriate Ismail Mohammad Golam Rosul filed the case on September 29, 2016. Later, finding the evidence of the complaint, Sub-Inspector Golam Rabbani of Motijheel police station submitted the probe report.

Irad Ahmed Siddiqui, the son of BNP leader Chowdhury Tanbir Ahmed Siddiky, lives in the Netherlands.

On September 15, 2016, Irad was named in several cases across the country under the ICT Act Section 57, accusing him of mocking and making vulgar comments about the Father of the Nation, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her government on Facebook.
