Assault on journalists: ‘ASI Ershad was involved’

Staff Correspondent: Police sources have confirmed that ASI Ershad was involved in the brutality on journalists in Shahbagh during an anti-Rampal power plant protest.

Police have already begun investigation to identify the cops, who were involved in torturing journalists, seeing video footages of the incident.

On Thursday, a committee was formed to investigate the matter.  

Additional Deputy Commissioner and chief of the investigation committee Nabil Kamal Shoibal said an assistant sub inspector (ASI) Ershad has temporary been suspended and he is now being interrogated after seeing video footages of the incident.

ATN news reporter Kazi Ahsan Bin Didar and cameraperson Abdul Alim came under police attack in Shahbagh area in the city while they were covering the hartal imposed by National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports in protest against the Rampal Power Plant Project.
