Attack on UN Staff member in Kabul

International Desk: A group of armed men have reportedly attacked the UN staff member in Kabul city earlier on Monday amid reports one person has been killed and another individual has been arrested.

According to the security officials, the incident took place in the vicinity of Khair Khana area of the city and a woman who is believed to UN staff member has been abducted.

Kabul police spokesman Bsir Muajhid confirmed that an incident involving hostage taking and murder has been reported from Khair Khana area.

He said an investigation is underway and further details will be released later.

This comes as reports emerged earlier suggesting that a female UN staff member and her child were kidnapped by unknown gunmen as they were on their to the kindergarten.

No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
