Australia arrive in Dhaka

Sports Desk: Australia have arrived in Dhaka for a two-match Test series against the Tigers after 11 years since 2006.

Aussies landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from Darwin via Singapore around 10:45pm on Friday.

Australia are visiting Bangladesh for Test series after 11 years since 2006. Eariler, Aussies were supposed to visit Bangladesh in 2015, CA then suspended it in excuse of security grounds.

In 2011, Aussies also toured Bangladesh. Then only three ODI matches were played between the two sides.

The visitor is supposed to play a practice match against Bangladesh Cricket Board XI at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah but the ground is waterlogged with contaminated water that has leaked into the stadium from adjoining factories – an issue that has been compounded by heavy seasonal rainfall.

The warm-up match is now supposed to take place at an alternative venue which is not announced yet.

The first Test (27-31 August) is scheduled to be held at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Dhaka while the second Test (4-8 September) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
