Ayub Bachchu laid to rest beside mother

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: The rock legend and musical band LRB founder Ayub Bachchu who died of a heart attack in Dhaka was buried beside his mother at their family graveyard on Saturday.

Bachchu was laid to eternal rest at 6:00pm after his namaj-e-janaza held at Jamiatul Falah Jame Mosque in Dampara Wasa intersection area in Madarbari at 4:30pm.

His namaj-e-janaza was attended by thousands of people.

City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, City Police Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman and other cultural personalities and political leaders attended the namaj-e-janaza.

Earlier, a flight of US-Bangla Airlines carrying the body of Ayub Bachchu and his family members reached Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram at 11:00am. Later, the body was taken to his grandfather's (maternal) house at Madarbari.

Earlier on Friday, people from all walks of life paid their last tributes to the celebrated guitarist, songwriter, composer and singer at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital.

On October 18, Ayub Bachchu died of a heart attack at the capital’s Square Hospital at the age of 56.

Ayub Bachchu was born in Chattogram on August 16, 1962.

He started his music career there with the band Feelings in 1978.

From 1980 to 1990, he was a member of Souls as lead guitarist and finally in 1991, he formed his own band, LRB.

LRB released its first album as a double album, which contained hard rock songs like "Madhobi" "Hoker" "Sesh Cithi keno amon Cithi hoy" "Happy" and "Dhakar Sondha".
