BCL cancels founding anniversary programms

Staff Correspondent: Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has cancelled programmes to celebrate its founding day after the death of veteran Awami League leader Syed Ashraful Islam.

On January 4 in 1948, Chhatra League began its journey from Dhaka University’s Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall.

The student affiliate of the ruling Awami League issued a press release, mourning the passing of the minister who had long been battling lung.

The press release was signed by Chhatra League president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon and general secretary Golam Rabbani.

Syed Ashraf passed away at age 68 on Thursday night while being treated at Thailand’s Bumrungrad Hospital.
