BCL fourth round: Walton 232/7 at Day 1

Sport Desk: Walton Central Zone scored 232 runs for 7 wickets at Day one against Islami Bank East Zone in the fourth round of the fifth season of Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL), the country's franchise based first class cricket tournament.

Earlier, Islami Bank East Zone won toss and chose to field first at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah in Narayanganj on Sunday morning.

The defending champions started losing wickets early as opener Abdul Majid departed in the third over of the day and at one stage their score was 103/5.
 



However, Shuvagata Hom and Nurul Hasan put resistance and took the score past 200.  Shuvagata scored 46 while Nurul 64 with 7 boundaries and 2 over-boundaries.

Besides, Marshal Ayub scored 37. Skipper Mosharraf Hossain and pacer Sharif were unbeaten on 21 and 11 respectively.

East Zone bowler Abu Jayed claimed 4 wickets for 52.
 



Earlier, Walton have been defeated in two of the previous three matches. The other match was a draw for which the defending champions only have 3 points.

However, East Zone bagged 9 points with one win, a draw and a defeat in the previous three games.
