‘BNP-Jamaat clique cannot come out of violence’

Staff Correspondent: Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif said, “The entire country is now election-oriented. At this time, attack on police by the leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat in capital’s Naya Paltan proves that they cannot come out of violence. They believe in violence.”

The AL leader came up with the comment while addressing a function organized to unveil the cover of a book titled “Bangabandhu-Bangladesh Ek O Avinno” at VIP Lounge of National Press Club on Saturday afternoon.

Expressing his surprise over the mum kept by Jatiya Oikyafront leaders after the mayhem carried out by BNP leaders and activists in capital’s Naya Paltan, where two vehicles of police were set afire and several others were damaged, Hanif said, it proved that although Dr Kamal Hossain is the leader of the platform, all the mechanisms are being controlled from London.

BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also used a blatant lie over the attack on police, he said.

Presided over by Sabujbagh thana Awami League general secretary Lion Chittaranjan Das, the function was also addressed by Dhaka city (south) Awami League general secretary Shahe Alam Murad, Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) general secretary Sohel Haider Chowdhury, Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) general secretary Syed Shukur Ali Shuvo, advocate Balram Poddar and Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote general secretary Arun Sarker Rana, among others.
