Staff Correspondent: Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud has said that BNP and Oikyafront have lost confidence on their own. So, now they cannot keep confidence on others.
The Minister said this while speaking at a memorial meeting at Jatiya Press Club in the capital on Sunday.
Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote (BSJ) organized the meeting marking the second death anniversary of former Awami League advisory council member and railways minister Suranjit Sengupta.
Hasan Mahmud said, “BNP and Oikyafron should bring back self-confidence and faith on their own. Then, they should move away from ways of boycotting and resisting polls.”
The Minister said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recently invited all parties and alliances, especially those joined the dialogues before the general elections, to a tea party. But it’s really regretting that BNP and Oikyafront didn’t respond to her call.”
“I had an expectation that Dr Kamal Hossain would teach BNP about courtesy. But now, he also forgets courtesy, rather he is learning bad manner from his alliance party leaders,” he added.
He urged BNP to take part in the upcoming local body elections to attain people’s faith.
AL, south city unit general secretary Shahe Alam Murad, BSJ leader Arun Sarker Rana, AL leaders Dr Dilip, Advocate Boloram Poddar, Akther Hossain and actress Aruna Biswas, among others, addressed the meeting with BSJ Executive President ATM Samsuzzaman in the chair.
