BNP chief's convoy comes under fresh attack

SK Reza Parves: The convoy of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia came under fresh attack at Mohipal in Feni while she was returning to Dhaka after wrapping up her four-day visit to Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar.

The BNP chief's convoy was attacked around 4:30pm.

According to eyewitnesses, some unidentified miscreants tried to attack the convoy of Khaleda Zia by throwing bricks while the convoy arrived at Mohipal in Feni around 4:30pm.

During this time, a chase and counter chase took place between the attackers and activists and leaders of BNP staying there. The miscreants vandalized some vehicles and set fire to two public buses which were parked before Mohipal Filling Station near Feni Circuit House.

But the vehicle carrying the BNP chief was out of the attack.

Later, the convoy left the place under the intervention of law enforcers.

The BNP chief started her return journey from Chittagong Circuit House at about 2:10pm and is expected to reach her Gulshan residence at about 8:00pm.

Earlier on Monday, Khaleda Zia visited three Rohingya camps at Moynargona, Hakimpara and Balukhali, and a medical camp set up by pro-BNP physicians’ body Doctors’ Association of Bangladesh (DAB) in Ukhia.

She also handed over food, other goods and medicines to the DAB medical camp to distribute those among the Rohingya children and lactating mothers alongside providing huge relief materials.

Returning to Chittagong at about 11:35pm on Monday, she stayed overnight at the Chittagong Circuit House.

On Saturday morning, Khaleda Zia set out for Chittagong from Dhaka and her Cox’s Bazar-bound convoy came under an attack at Mohammad Ali Bazar near Feni district town in the afternoon.
