BNP doubts in forming non-partisan EC

Senior Correspondent: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expressed its doubt over forming a non-partisan (neutral) Election Commission (EC).

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, Senior Joint Secretary General of the party, expressed his doubt in this regard in a press conference at the party's central office at Nayapaltan in Dhaka on Friday afternoon.

Rizvi said, "The president has recently concluded a dialogue with the country's political parties over forming a new election commission (EC). BNP along with other political parties and people of the country expect that president will form a non-partisan search committee to form a neutral and stronger EC.

"But how the ruling party leaders are speaking harshly, we smell a rat in forming a neutral EC," he added.

He also said people will not accept any search committee if it is formed with party people.
