BNP files appeal against HC order

Staff Correspondent: BNP mayoral candidate Md Hasan Uddin Sarker has filed an appeal against the HC verdict that stayed the Gazipur City Corporation election for three months.

Lawyers of Hasan Uddin filed the appeal with concerned department on Monday.

Barrister Sanjid Siddique, a lawyer of BNP candidate Hasan Uddin, confirmed firmed the matter to risingbd.com.

Earlier, the lawyers went to the chamber court for permission.

On Sunday, the HC bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Zafar Ahmed stayed the Gazipur City Corporation election for three months in response to a petition by a Savar upazila Awami League leader.

The court also issued a rule asking the EC and the government to explain why inclusion of six mouzas of Shimulia union in the Gazipur City Corporation and the election schedule should not be declared illegal.
