BNP rejects Aug 21 attack verdict

Senior Reporter: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has rejected the verdict in the two cases filed lodged over the August 21, 2004 grenade attack.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said this at a press conference held at the party’s Naya Paltan office in the capital on Wednesday noon.

“BNP thinks that the verdict is a politically motivated one. It’s a naked manifestation of satisfying government’s political vengeance,” said BNP Mirza Fakhrul.

He also said the government has set another bad example of taking political revenge using the court.

BNP’s standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, Nazrul Islam Khan and Amir Khasru Mahmud Choudhury were present, among others, at the programme.
