BNP to stage countrywide demo on Monday

Senior Correspondent: As part of the programmes announced before, BNP will stage demonstration across the country tomorrow (Monday) protesting at what the party said harassing its leaders, including Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman, in false cases.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgi said this while speaking at a rally organised to mark the Great Victory Day on Sunday.

“BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and senor vice chairman Tarique Rahman are being harassed by implicating in false cases and issuing warrants for their arrest,” Fakhrul said.

“Thousands of leaders and activists of BNP are also being harassed by the government in false cases. So, we have decided to register our protest against it across the country, including Dhaka city, on Monday,” the BNP leader added.

Fakhrul asked party leaders and activists to make the programme a success with their spontaneous participation.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the protest programme on Friday morning at a programme at former vice chancellor of Dhaka University professor Emajuddin Ahmed’s residence.
