Senior Correspondent: As part of its countrywide programme announced earlier, BNP leaders and activists will stage a sit-in programme in the city on Tuesday protesting the jail sentence of its Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a graft case.
The sit-in programme will begin at 11:00am in front of National Press Club in the city and continue till 12:00pm.
The one-hour long programme will be observed at all districts, thanas, upazilas and cities across the country at convenient time and place.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the announcement at a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in the capital this afternoon.
On February 8, a special court here convicted Khaleda and sentenced her to five years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
In protest against the verdict, BNP has been observing different political programmes demanding immediate release of its chairperson.
As part of the political programmes, BNP announced a two-day protest programme for Friday and Saturday. Later on Saturday, BNP announced another round of three-day countrywide programme from Monday to Wednesday protesting the jail sentence of its Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a graft case.
The three-day countrywide programmes included staging a human chain on Monday, an hour-long sit-in on Tuesday and a hunger strike from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Wednesday.
