BNP vows to resist lopsided election

Senior Correspondent: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has vowed to resist one-sided election.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi declared this in a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in the capital on Thursday.

He said, “Lopsided election must be resisted by BNP. The government will not be allowed to play in an empty field.”

The BNP stalwart came up with the anouncement in reaction to Awami League (AL) general secretary Obaidul Quader as he said, “A befitting reply will be given to foiling election.”

Rizvi said, “I want to tell Quader clearly that people must resist the election if attempt is taken to hold it like January 5, 2014 one.”

“You will do illegal activities one after another, snatch away people’s voting rights and people will remain silent.  No scope to think so,” he warned.

He said, “People not allow to play in an empty field. The election will be held under a neutral government and BNP will participate in it under leadership of the party chairperson Khaleda Zia.”
