‘BNP will join election taking Khaleda Zia’

Senior Correspondent: BNP senior leader Nazrul Islam Khan said the party will participate in the upcoming general election under the leadership of the party’s Chairperson Khaleda Zia who is now in jail after being convicted in a graft case.

The BNP leader came up the remark while addressing a programme at the national press club in the capital on Thursday noon.

“Efforts will be made to keep the BNP chief behind bars but they (government) could not keep her behind bars. Inshallah, she will get release from jail,” the BNP standing committee member said.

“Under the leadership of the party’s Chairperson Khaleda Zia after freeing her from jail, we will participate in the free and fair election which will be held under a non-partisan caretaker government. People will elect Khaleda Zia again as the prime minister,” he added.
