BNP's Amir Khasru secures HC bail

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has granted anticipatory bail to BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury in a case filed under Information and Communication Technology Act.
An HC bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Jafar Ahmed passed the order on Sunday.
Advocate Zainul Abedin and Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon stood for Amir Khasru in the court.
On October 21, a court in Chattogram sent BNP leader Amir Khasru to jail after rejecting his bail petition in the case filed under ICT Act.
Metropolitan Session Judge Akbar Hossain Mridha passed the order on the day rejecting his bail petition. Later, Amir Khasru filed a bail petition with the HC.
Jakaria Dastagir, general secretary of Chattogram Metropolitan unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), filed the case under ICT Act on August 4.
The case was filed under Section 57 (2) of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act and Section 15 (3) of Special Power Act.
Angered by the deaths of two college students in a tragic road accident on Airport Road in the capital on July 29, students of schools and colleges across the country took to the streets and continued their demonstration for seven days demanding 9-point demands, including road safety.
A phone conversation allegedly between Khasru and a BNP activist was leaked, in which the BNP leader was heard giving instruction to infiltrate the ongoing nationwide student protests demanding safe roads with the party men.
In the case statement, the plaintiff said Amir Khasru was hatching a conspiracy to make the country unstable and instigate anarchy by carrying out subversive activities as he was heard giving instruction through an electronic device in this regard.
