Staff Correspondent: Former Basic Bank Chairman Sheikh Abdul Hye Bacchu fell sick on Wednesday, during his second day of quizzing over a loan scam that rattled Bangladesh’s banking sector.
He was being quizzed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in Segunbagicha since 10:00am, said Pranab Kumar Bhattachariya, public relations officer of ACC.
Bacchu fell sick around 2:00pm. He was examined by ACC doctor Jyotirmoy Chowdhury, the officer said.
The ACC on November 23 summoned Bacchu and 10 former directors of the bank to its office for interrogation in scam cases involving around Tk 4,500 crore.
The move came over two years after the graft watchdog filed 56 cases against bankers over the loan scam that took place in the state-run bank between 2010 and 2013.
