Ban on fishing in haors withdrawn

Sylhet Correspondent: The district administration has withdrawn its ban on fishing in Sunamganj haors. The decision was taken at a meeting on Tuesday.

Sunamganj deputy commissioner Sheikh Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter to risingbd.com.

Quoting specialist, Rafiqul Islam said that the situation is better now. The fish in the haors are safe for all.

He said, "We have talked to the specialist. The water pollution condition has improved. No fishes are dying now. So, fishermen can catch fish now."

Earlier, the district administration imposed a week-long ban on fishing as huge fish died in the haors following the recent flashflood.
