Bangabandhu International Volleyball Tournament begins Saturday

Sports Correspondent: Bangabandhu Asian Senior Men’s Central Zone International Volleyball Championship is set to kick off in Dhaka at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium on Saturday.

The seven-day tournament will be inaugurated at 3:00pm on the day.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal will be present in the six nation competition as the chief guest while State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Shikdar, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon, Elias Uddin Mollah MP, FBCCI president Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin and Saifuzzaman Shekhor, Assistant Private Secretary to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as special guests.

Six teams split into two groups are taking part in the tournament.

Defending champions Bangladesh were drawn in Group A with Maldives and Nepal while the three Central Asian countries-- Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan-- will compete each other in Group B.

The group level games will be held from April 21 to April 24 while the final will be taken place on April 27.

The host Bangladesh will take Nepal in the opening game at 4:00pm.
