Bangla Academy Literary Award-2017 announced

Staff Correspondent: In recognition of their contributions to their respective fields, a total of twelve personalities have been chosen for the Bangla Academy Shahitya Puroshkar (Literary Awards) for 2017.
Bangla Academy Director General Shamsuzzaman Khan announced the names at a press briefing at the academy auditorium on Saturday afternoon.
The Literary Awards have been given in ten categories.
The recipients are Mohammad Sadik and Maruful Islam (poetry), Mamun Hossain (fiction), Professor Mahbubul Haque (essay), Professor Rafiqullah Khan (research), Amirul Islam Bhuiyan (translation), Kamrul Hasan Bhuiyan and Surma Jahid (literature on Liberation War), Shakoor Majid (travelogue), Moloy Bhowmik (drama), Mostak Ahmed (science fiction) and Jharna Das Purkayastha (children literature).
The prestigious Bangla Academy Shahitya Puroshkar will be handed over to the awardees at the inaugural ceremony of the month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair on February 1.
The winners will receive a cheque of Tk 1 lakh each this year.
