Bangla Academy award announced

Staff Correspondent: The Bangla Academy today announced the names of the recipients of Bangla Academy Literary Award for 2016.

Bangla Academy Director General Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan declared the names in a press conference on Monday afternoon.

The award recipients are- Abu Hasan Shahriar in poetry, Shahaduzzman in prose, Morshed Shafiul Hasan in essay and research, Niaz Zaman in translation, MA Hasan in literature on liberation war, Noorjahan Bose in memoirs and Rashed Rout in children’s literature.

Besides, none was found eligible for the award in science and drama categories this year.  

Each of the winners will receive a cash of Tk 1 lakh, a certificate and a crest from the prime minister at the launching ceremony of the largest book fair.
