CIID seizes gold, diamond of Apan jewelers

Staff Correspondent: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) officially have started confiscating 13.5 mounds of gold of Apan Jewelers as it failed to show valid documents.
The seizure of the gold and diamonds began around 9:30am on Sunday. The whole process will be continued till evening.
Director General of Customs Intelligence Moinul Khan confirmed the matter to risingbd.com.
Earlier, the CIID officials held 498-kg of gold and some diamonds from five outlets in Gulshan, Uttara, Mouchak and Shimanto Square on May 14 and 15.
The authorities kept the ornaments at the respective outlets, in accordance with the rules, and asked the shop authorities to bring the documents to the CIID office.
But, the Apan Jewellers authority failed to produce any documents or receipts that show they bought the gold from them.
