‘Bangladesh-India relations can be followed by others’

Staff Correspondent: Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has said that the maturity of Bangladesh-India political leaders can be followed by other nations.

He said, “The strong bilateral relations of between Bangladesh and India is built on political maturity and sagacity of both the counties’ leaders, which can be followed by other nations.”

He made the observation while speaking at the district correspondents’ conference of private television channel ETV in the capital on Saturday.

The Minister said, “We (Bangladesh and India) resolved our disputes like land and maritime boundaries and the Ganges water sharing through dialogues. Our leaders showed political maturity to resolve problems through discussions.”

Momen said, “Bangladesh is facing various challenges in uplifting itself from developing country to a developed one.”

“The countries those are advancing well usually face obstacles from different quarters. We may also face some. Media needs to play an important role in this regard,” he observed.

The foreign minister urged the media to present massive development of Bangladesh and its ideal foreign policy through objective news.

State Minister for Cultural Affairs K M Khalid and ETV Managing Director Major General (retd) M Ali Shikdar also spoke on the occasion.
