Bangladesh-Myanmar Home Minister-level talks begins

Senior Correspondent: Myanmar Home Minister Lt Gen Kyaw Swe is holding a meeting with his Bangladesh counterpart Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal at the Secretariat to discuss repatriation of Rohingyas.

A 14-member delegation of Myanmar reached the secretariat around 2:50pm on Friday. Bangladesh Home Ministry rolled out red carpet and received them with guard of honour.

Top officials of the law enforcement agencies including Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal were present there.

A 17-member delegation led by Home Minister attended the meeting.

According to sources, Bangladesh is likely to hand over a list of Rohingyas with family units to start first batch repatriation after necessary verification.

Alongside, discussion will be held over different types of drug smuggling including Yaba tablet, resolving border crisis and developing relationship between the border agencies of both countries.
