Sports Correspondent: Bangladesh Under-19 cricket beat Sri Lanka by 13 runs in their Youth Test in Colombo on Friday.
Having taken a slender 21-run lead in the first innings, the Bangladesh batsmen found it difficult to build partnerships and lost wickets at regular intervals to be bundled out for a paltry 115 in Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground.
In reply, Sri Lanka managed to score 123 runs losing all wickets.
Bangladesh team wicketkeeper-batsman Akbar Ali (42) was the only one to make any contribution of note. Besides, Shamim Hossain scored 19 runs.
Earlier, Bangladesh batted first and scored 309 and in reply Sri Lanka made 288 in first innings.
Bangladesh U19 in their tour of the island will face Sri Lanka in their second Test match on Tuesday. Later, the teams will play a five-match one-day series.
