Bangladesh Women lose series by 4-1

Sport Correspondent: South Africa National Women Cricket Team thrashed Bangladesh National Women Cricket Team in the fifth One Day International sealing the five-match series by 4-1 in Cox's Bazar on Friday.

 

The match began at 9:30am on Friday at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium.

 

Winning toss Bangladesh Women chose to bat first and scored 68 runs losing all wickets in 36.3 overs.

 

At the very beginning, Bangladesh Women faced a batting collapse and lost two wickets early for only 7 runs. The team lost 7 wickets only for 40 runs.

 

However, they managed to score 68 runs until the last wicket fall.

 

In reply, the visitors easily managed to reach the target set by Bangladesh Women with fall of only two wickets in 10 overs.

 

To chase the 69-run target, South Africa opener Lizelle Lee scored 37 runs while Chloe Tryon was not out on 13 runs.

 

With the victory, the visitors won the series by 4-1 as they won the first match by 86 runs and second match by 17 runs and fourth match by 94 runs. However, the hosts fought back well and won the third match by 10 runs.

 

South Africa opener Lizelle Lee was awarded the 'Walton Player of the Series' award for her outstanding batting and Odine Kirsten was awarded the 'Walton Player of the Match' prize.
