'Bangladesh going to be ceramic material exporter'

Staff Correspondent: Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said that ceramic industry is a growing production sector which attracted foreign investors. Ceramic Expo proves that we are going to turn a ceramic exporter country gradually.

The Minister came up with the statement while speaking at the closing ceremony of "Ceramic Expo Bangladesh-2017" at Bashundhara International Convention Centre (ICCB) in the capital on Thursday.

Tofail said, "Though the country's first ceramic factory launched its journey in 1962, now there are at least 62 factories in three categories with the investment of $1 billion dollars. The government is getting Tk 3,000 crore revenue from this sector. The export income of the sector is $50 milions."

"The government has imposed high taxes to import ceramic materials which helps the sector expanded," the minister added.
