Sports Desk: Bangladesh Under-23 football team made history beating Qatar by 1-0 goal in the Asian Games at the Patriot Chandrabhaga Stadium in West Java, Indonesia on Sunday.
Earlier, Bangladesh got scope to reach knockout stage couple of times but could not secure victory. But, this time youngsters of Bangladesh set a history beating Qatar.
Bangladesh scored the expected goal in the second half after breathtaking match. An injury time strike from skipper Jamal Bhuiyan helped Bangladesh to score the lone goal.
Following the win, the team would now face Iran or Saudi Arabia in round of 16-match on August 24.
Earlier, Bangladesh Under-23 football team entered knockout stage from group 'B' getting four points as runners up.
