Hockey World Ranking: Bangladesh moves 4 steps forward

Sports Correspondent: With 298 points, Bangladesh has moved four steps forward from 34th slot to 30th place Hockey World Ranking following their recent outstanding performances in the Hockey World Leagues and Continental Cup.
After 32 years, Bangladesh finished 6th in the last month’s eight-nation Hero Asia Cup Men’s Hockey in Dhaka and earned the right to play directly in the next Asia Cup and Asian Games Hockey.
The World Hockey Ranking is finalized taking into the account the performances of the countries in the Hockey World Leagues, Olympic Games, World Cup Hockey and Continental Cup from 2014 to 2017.
India finished 6th with 1461 points in the world ranking while Argentina in the first position with 1845 points, Australia in the second with 1825 points, Belgium in the third with 1790 points, Netherlands in the fourth with 1683 points and Germany in the fifth with 1600 points and top among the Asian country, followed by Malaysia (12th), Pakistan (13th), South Korea (14th), Japan (16th), China (17th), Bangladesh (30th), Oman (32nd), Sri Lanka (38th) Hong Kong (45th ) and Chinese Taipei (52nd).
