Bangladesh to play 2019 World Cup directly

Sports Desk: Bangladesh will get direct entry to 2019 World Cup Cricket if everything is all right till September 30.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan Papon said it on Sunday. BCB boss, speaking in a media conference in his Beximco office.

The BCB President said Bangladesh will be among the top eight teams in the ICC rankings till 30 September, which means they won't need to play in the qualifying stage.

With 94 points, Bangladesh is currently at seventh position. one ahead of Sri Lanka and 17 ahead of the West Indies, according to the ICC ODI ranking.



BCB President also said, `Bangladesh is now in the safe zone and I am not seeing any danger of failing to qualify directly for the World Cup 2019 in the United Kingdom as we are currently sitting at seventh position in ODI ranking table and the point difference between Bangladesh and West Indies made the passage easier for Bangladesh to qualify for World Cup directly.’

Bangladesh was always on the verge of earning direct qualification to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 due to their performance in the recently concluded tri-series and ICC Champions Trophy.

With two wins in the tri-series in Ireland and the remarkable win against New Zealand in ChampionsTrophy, Bangladesh almost confirmed direct qualification for the World Cup 2019 because Bangladesh required three wins to overtake Sri Lanka (93).

Bangladesh retained its seventh position in the ICC ODI rankings. There is no possibility to fall the position if any disastrous loss is not happened. Following the fact, ICC withdrew Bangladesh from the matches of qualifying round. Scotland and Ireland will play qualifying match. 

BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon on Sunday said, "The overall ranking situations shows, there is a strong possibility to play 2019 World Cup directly. Hoping Bangladesh will play the upcoming world cup directly."
