Secretariat Correspondent: The Cabinet on Monday approved a proposal for signing the "Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons", a legally binding instrument of the UN prohibiting nuclear weapons.
The approval was given in the weekly meeting of the Cabinet held at the Prime Minister's Office with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Cabinet Secretary M Shafiul Alam briefed reporters after the meeting.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on behalf of Bangladesh will sign the treaty during the 72nd UN General Assembly (UNGA) this month.
