Bangladesh to turn into developed country in 2041

Staff Correspondent: Bangladesh will turn into a developed country within 2041 through using digital technologies, speakers expressed their hopes.

They also expected that the per capita income will stand at $2,000 during this period.

Speakers came up with the expectations at a round-table discussion at the National Press Club on Thursday.

AAMS Arefin Siddique, the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Dhaka University, said, "Today Bangladesh has moved forward so far as Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu, dreamt a digital Bangladesh ahead of the general election in 2008. The country will turn into a developed one if digital technologies are used properly."

"We got independence as Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman made himself involved in national politics at his youth," he added.

Columnist Abu Sayed, Ekattor TV news director Ishtiak Reza among others spoke in the programme.
