Entertainment Desk: Famous Bangladeshi actress Anju Ghosh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of state party president Dilip Ghosh in Kolkata on Wednesday.

The development comes almost two month's after a huge controversy erupted when a popular Bangladeshi actor was ordered to leave India after he was seen campaigning for Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) during the Lok Sabha elections 2019.

Famous Bangladeshi actor Ferdous Ahmed's business visa was cancelled by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and a notice was issued to him to immediately leave the country.

Ahmed, who had acted in many Bengali films, was blacklisted from the country as well. MHA sources said none of the visa categories allow a foreign national to participate in political campaigning in the country.

Ferdous Ahmed was seen campaigning for Trinamool Congress candidates in Bengal for the Lok Sabha elections.

A major political row broke out when Ferdous was roped in to campaign for the TMC and the BJP even filed a complaint with the Election Commission, claiming that Ferdous's campaign activity for TMC is in violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Citing the previous incident, many people on Twitter questioned how the BJP could include her in the party. Meanwhile, several others on the social media platform have demanded the actress to declare her citizenship.
