Bangladeshi national 'tortured to death by BSF'

Satkhira Correspondent: A Bangladeshi youth was tortured to death by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Kushkhali border area in Sadar upazila of Satkhira early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Kabirul Islam, 32, son of Aziz Mollah, hailed from Chaygharia village of Sadar Upazila.

Faruk Hossain, maternal uncle of the victim said that Kabirul went to India to bring indian goods on Friday night. But, the BSF members caught him and tortured him brutally, leaving him critically injured. At one station, BSF poured petrol on him and left him in the border area.

Later, the youth was taken to Satkhira Sadar Hospital where he died under treatment around 12:00am.

Confirming the matter, Satkhira Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman said, injury marks were seen in the body. Details can be said after autopsy report.
