‘Bangladeshis died in Mediterranean yet not identified’

Staff Correspondent: Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said those Bangladeshis died in the boat capsize off the Tunisian coast in Mediterranean Sea have yet not been identified.

He said, “Our ambassador reached there. He is working for identities of the deceased. After justifying, If they were found Bangladeshis, they will be brought back home.”

The Minister said this while speaking at a programme in the capital’s Krishibid Institute, Bangladesh (KIB) on Tuesday.

Dr Momen said, “We have heard that 37 Bangladeshis died in the boat capsize off the Tunisian coast through different media. But we have no such information till now. Our ambassador reached there. If they were found Bangladesh after justification, they must be brought home.”

“Besides, the government is also thinking over injured Bangladeshis of the incident,” he added.

When asked about seventy Bangladeshis sent from Turkey jail, he said, “I knew the matter trough newspaper today. It was interesting how the matters was published in newspaper. However, we knew nothing in this regard.”
