Secretariat Correspondent: The United Nations General Assembly has unanimously adopted Bangladesh’s resolution on the Culture of Peace.

A government official statement confirmed the matter on Tuesday.

In a general assembly, the resolution was adopted on December 11. Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the UN Ambassador Masud Bin Momen floated the proposal.

He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina remains personally attached to the issue, and underscores the importance of a ‘whole-of-society’ approach in the national context for promoting a culture of peace.

Masud Bin Momen also said,“Culture of peace is an aspiration of all humankind. Promoting and inculcating a mindset of a culture of peace is at the core of the creative management of differences and divisions.”

This year more than 60 countries in the cross-regional representation co-sponsored this resolution. Everyone has pledged to work together to implement this important resolution.

The concept of 'Culture of Peace' resolution was first noted by Bangladesh in 1997. The whole world celebrated 'Decade of Culture of Peace' following that.
