Bank official killed in city road crash

Staff Correspondent: An official of One Bank was killed and another injured in a road accident at Hatirjheel area in the capital yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Ziaul Kobir Sohel, 45, an official of One Bank and a resident of Daulatkhan upazila of Bhola district while the injured are Farjana Aktar Tania, 28.

Sources said Sohel and Tania were going towards Rampura via Hatirjheel on motorcycle around 10:15pm on Tuesday. A truck hit the motorcycle from behind when it reached Police Concord Plaza in Hatirjheel area, leaving Sohel dead on the spot and Tania injured.

Later, locals took Tania to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Confirming the matter, Abdul Jalil, officer-in-charge (OC) of Badda Police Station, said the body was kept at DMCH morgue.

Meanwhile, the driver of the truck managed to flee the scene although the truck was seized.
