Barisal Bulls suspended from BPL!

Sports Correspondent: Barisal Bulls is going to be suspended from the fifth season of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for violating financial conditions of the money-spinning tournament.

Afzalur Rahman Sinha, Chairman of the BPL governing council, came up with the disclosure at Dhaka Club in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.

He said, "We held a meeting over BPL. We discussed several issues and took some decisions in the meeting. Barisal Bulls will not be allowed to participate in the fifth season as the franchise failed to pay money for its operation. The fifth season will also be held with  seven franchises."

The fourth season of the tournament was held with seven franchises as Sylhet was suspended. This time, Sylhet Royals is all set to return.

Meanwhile, Barisal Bulls owner MA Awal Choudhury said, "We want to play the tournament. The crisis will be resolved very soon. For this, we sought some times."

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) fell in trouble to pay fee to the cricketers in the first two seasons. Later, BPL governing body made the payment from its own account.

From the third season, BCB is ensuring the team fee to cricket’s governing body before starting the tournament.

For this, the franchises are bound to confirm a pay order of Tk 5.5 crore with bank guarantee before launching the tournament.

Though other seven franchises paid the amount with guarantee, Barisal Bulls yet failed to ensure the payment.

According to reliable sources, BPL governing body extended 15 days for Barisal Bulls to ensure the payment. Otherwise, the franchise will be skidded off the fifth season of tournament.
