Barrister Mainul arrested

Staff Correspondent: A team of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Barrister Mainul Hosein in connection to a defamation case filed in Rangpur.

Mainul, who is at the centre of a firestorm of criticism for verbally abusing a female journalist on air, was picked up from the residence of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD-Rab) President ASM Abdul Rab in the capital’s Uttara around 9:30 pm on Monday.

Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB) Abdul Baten confirmed the matter.

Several cases were filed across the country against Mainul Hosein for hurling abusive words at journalist Masuda Bhatti in a television talk-show.
