Barrister Mainul kept in general prison ward

Staff Correspondent: Barrister Mainul Hosein has been kept in general ward of Dhaka Central Jail.

He would not be provided division, according to the jail authorities.

Mahbub Alam, jailer of Dhaka Central Jail, on Tuesday afternoon told risingbd that he (Mainul) is not a VIP captive. Besides, the court not did not mention in the verdict to get him any special privilege. So, he was kept in general ward. He was brought to the jail after 3:00pm on Tuesday.

Barrister Mainul Hosein made derogatory comments to journalist Masuda Bhatti when he was connected to a talk show programme of Ekattor TV via video-conference on October 16.

Later, the journo filed a defamation case against him.

A warrant was also issued in a case filed against Barrister Mainul in Rangpur over the same issue. Detectives arrested him in the case from ASM Abdur Rob’s Uttara residence, JSD president and leader of Jatiya Oikyafront, on Monday night.
