Barrister Mainul returned to jail after checkup

Staff Correspondent, Rangpur: Barrister Mainul Hosein was taken back to jail from Rangpur Medical College Hospital on Saturday after medical check-up. 

Earlier on Sunday, the leaders and activists of Awami League and BNP locked into a clash when Barrister Mainul Hosein was taken to Rangpur Chief Judicial Magistrate court.

Later, the family members appealed to the High Court seeking medical examination of Barrister Mainul Hosein. Following the appeal, the High Court directed Rangpur jail super and Rangpur Medical College Hospital director to conduct medical check-up.

Dr Ajay Roy, director of Rangpur Medical College Hospital said, a medical board has been formed in this regard. Some tests have been carried out. Details about his illness can be said after getting the examination reports.

On October 22, following a comment on a television talk show, a human right and development activist of Rangpur, Mili Maya filed a defamation case against Mainul Hosein with the additional chief judicial magistrate’s court. 

Later, Mainul was arrested on that night in Dhaka and shifted to Rangpur jail.
