Barrister Nazmul Huda gets bail in bribery case

Staff Correspondent: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has granted bail to former minister Barrister Nazmul Huda in a bribery case.

A four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order on Monday.

Lawyers AF Hasan Arif, Monsurul Haque Chowdhury and Sigma Huda moved for Nazmul Huda and Khushid Alam Khan stood for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) during the hearing.

Later, Khushid Alam Khan told reporters the apex court also permitted Nazmul Huda to move an appeal before this court against the HC verdict. As a result, Huda will remain in bail until the case dismissed. 

On March 21, 2007, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) deputy director Md. Shariful Islam filed the case with Dhanmondi Police Station against Nazmul Huda and her wife Sigma Huda.
