Biswa Ijtema to begin on January 12

Secretariat Correspondent: The Biswa Ijtema, one of the largest congregations of Muslims, will begin on January 12 on the bank of the Turag River in Tongi.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal made the disclosure after a meeting at his secretariat office on Monday.

Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that the Biswa Ijtema will be held in two phases. First phase will begin on January 12 and second phase will start on January 19.

He also said tight security measures will be taken to avert any untoward situations. Besides, special steps including Archway to be setup for foreign pilgrims.

Farid Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, secretary to the Security Service Division under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Haque, RAB Director General Benazir Ahmed, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia and others attended the meeting.
